My Senpai Crossword Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information My Senpai: Japanese Crossword (iOS, Android and web) collects, why, and the choices you have. My SenpAI LLC ("we", "us") publishes the app.
- No sign-up. We never ask for your name or email.
- The app creates a random, anonymous ID so the Daily puzzle can be played once per day.
- Your puzzles, progress and settings are stored on your device.
- The free version shows ads through Google AdMob. We use Firebase to measure usage and crashes.
Information we collect

Information that stays on your device
- Puzzles in progress, completed puzzles, streaks, hints and settings
Deleting the app, or clearing site data on the web version, deletes this information.
Device permissions
The app does not request access to your camera, microphone, photos, contacts or location. On iOS, it asks for tracking permission for advertising (see Advertising). If you use the share or copy feature, the app writes text to your clipboard. It does not read your clipboard.
Advertising
The free version of the app shows ads through Google AdMob. Google and its advertising partners may use your device's advertising identifier and similar information to show ads, including ads based on your interests, and to measure ad performance. See How Google uses information from apps that use its services.
- iPhone and iPad: the app asks for permission before it uses your advertising identifier (App Tracking Transparency). If you tap "Ask App Not to Track", ads are still shown but are not personalized with that identifier. You can change this anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Android: you can reset or delete your advertising ID in Settings → Google → Ads (the exact path varies by device).
- European Economic Area, UK and Switzerland: where the law requires your consent for personalized ads, we rely on your choices in your device settings and will only show personalized ads where permitted.
Purchases
In-app purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never receive your payment details.
Service providers we use
These companies process data on our behalf, or as independent providers, to make My Senpai: Japanese Crossword work. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Supabase: anonymous Daily puzzle records (Supabase Privacy Policy)
- Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics, and Google Analytics on the web version (Firebase privacy and security, Google Privacy Policy)
- Google AdMob: advertising (How Google uses information from apps that use its services)
- Apple and Google: in-app purchases (Apple Privacy Policy, Google Privacy Policy)
We do not sell your personal information for money. Personalized advertising through AdMob may count as "sharing" or "targeted advertising" under some US state privacy laws. You can opt out by turning off ad tracking as described in the Advertising section.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger or sale of the business (in which case this policy continues to apply to your information).
How long we keep information
- Anonymous Daily puzzle records: kept only as long as needed to run the Daily puzzle and prevent repeat plays, then deleted.
- Analytics and crash data: kept for the retention period set in Google Analytics and Firebase, then deleted automatically.
Your choices and rights
Because we don't know who you are, the easiest way to remove your data is to delete the app, which discards the anonymous ID. You can also email us to ask us to delete data linked to your device.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of targeted advertising. This includes residents of the European Economic Area and the UK (GDPR), California and other US states with privacy laws, and Japan (APPI). To make a request, email [email protected]. We will respond within the time the law requires and will not treat you differently for using these rights. If you are in the EEA or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Where the GDPR applies, we process data to provide the app you asked for (contract), to keep it working, secure and improving (legitimate interests), and for personalized ads and similar uses only with your consent.
Children
My Senpai: Japanese Crossword is a general-audience learning app and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Where information is processed
My SenpAI LLC is registered in the United States. Our servers and service providers are located in the United States, Japan and other countries, so your information may be processed outside the country where you live. When we transfer personal information from the EEA or UK, we rely on our providers' legal transfer mechanisms, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections to our account and analytics providers. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date. If a change is significant, we will also tell you in the app or on the app's store listing.
